How they are made
The wool and silk for the rugs is hand dyed and then is hung in the sun to dry. It is then prepared for the looms.
"All my rugs are hand-knotted on vertical looms. They are made from 100% wool or wool and silk mix .The ratio of wool to silk depends entirely on the design. Hand knotting is a fine and time consuming technique as each thread is hand knotted and tied. Almost any kind of design is possible with this skill."
"Hand knotting of rugs is an ancient craft it is very important to keep this method of rug making alive by supporting the rural communities whose livelihood depends on hand knotted rug commissions. A hand knotted rug has excellent durability and is a piece of art in itself!”
